Tour of Michael's Folly - The Ark

[ The Ark ]

This cute cabin was a recent arrival to Michael's Folly. To get here, it was disassembled, transported on a lorry, then brought through a neighbouring field by tractor, before being lifted over the hedge by crane! It rests on a foundation of railway sleepers, and is designed to occupy the maximum floorspace for a building that doesn't require planning permission, yet has sides which slope outwards to make more room inside. It makes for a lovely self-contained accomodation; there's a kitchen area in the porchway, two sofa beds in the lounge and a double bunk bed upstairs. Another small hut outside has a compost loo. Electricity and water are connected, and it is heated by a wood burning stove (which heats the hot water tank in the recently added shower). Cosy!

The Ark is available for holiday breaks and retreats - see the Strawbale Studio brochure for details.
