Read in my
Journal about all the
fun we had in
2005 and
2004. I was
involved in
organising the event in 2006, but sadly after building
a website and arranging performances,
I have had to quit due to unreasonable attitudes of some other people :-(
Some
groups who were due to
perform are arranging a new event elsewhere... :-)
We are holding a Festival of Song, Drum and Dance in July 2005 at Cuffley Camp near Potters Bar, just north of London (see this map). It is in 90 acres of outstanding natural beauty. We held our first camp there last year, and it was very successful. All who came really enjoyed it. The date is Friday 22nd until Sunday 24th July 2005. There will be a cafe, mains showers and toilets (yes, proper showers and toilets unlike most festivals).
There will be
lots of different
workshops including
Tibetan Singing Bowls,
Drumming,
Circle Dance, Peace Dance,
Classical Indian Dance,
Native American Flutes,
Native American Dancing, African Harmony, Sacred Chants, Singing In Rounds,
Laughter Workshops,
Pottery, Magnatherapy, Past Life Regression, Druid Shamanism, and
Rune Divination. There will also be a
children's programme of
workshops including more
Laughter,
Pottery, Paper Making, Story Telling, and others to be announced (and don't
forget the
trampoline,
assault
course and miles of woodlands to explore...).
The programme of workshops will run from 9:00am through till about 5:30-6:00pm on Saturday, and some will be on Sunday morning. We will then have a break for refreshments in the cafe, which will also be open during the day, and then the Saturday evening performances will begin at 8 o'clock...
All performances are
staged in the natural amphitheatre where the camp fire is lit at dusk.
Timings are approximate and subject to African Time Fluctuations ;-)
This year promises to be
even better than last year, so hope to see you all. For a full leaflet with
booking form, please leave your address and I will send one, or ring for a
chat. If anyone is interested in a promotional videotape, made at the camp
last year,
which is about an hour long, the cost will be £5.00 incl. p+p.
The cost for stall holders will be £25 for the weekend. There are some spaces left on work tickets for people to help in the kitchen. If you wanted to, you could also come on a part work ticket. There is also an option to pay half-cash and half-LETS.
Camping will be £70 per person, and to have a bunk in a cabin would be £90 per person. Single-day tickets are £35. Children under 4 free, aged 5-14 £20.
All prices include all workshops and performances - please make cheques payable to S. Cassidy. Please book soon to ensure tickets can be sent in time. If you would like any flyers to give out, or would like a full programme, do call me. The gates open at 5:00pm on Friday night, and everyone must leave by 5:00pm on the Sunday.
Hope you can all come and join us!
Bright blessings,
Carol Vinyard
