Sir Duncan's Pavane for solo double bass (2000) 1'23"

This short piece in a baroque style was composed in 2000 for my bassist friend Duncan Fox who I met at Dartington Summer School. He moved to Portugal and started up a group of all the double bassists in Lisbon! I began writing an experimental proto-spectral piece for all twelve of them called +12dB, but this was never finished.

Duncan was asked to perform music for a theatre production, so he used my Pavane as theme music, extemporising on it during the acting scenes. It was premiered and recorded at Teatro Dona Maria II, Lisbon, 2002-10-19. I hope to add a recording here soon.

[Scores and recordings will eventually be available]
