Song Of The Goddesses for sampler & computer (1993) 1'22" [ The Three Blighted Sisters in Oxford Botanic Gardens ]

This was an exam piece for my Electronic Music studies at the University of Hertfordshire, composed in just three hours under examination conditions. We were given a choice to use two out of three samples provided, which we could then manipulate using the sampler and computer: I chose the church bell and female voice, no doubt inspired by Jonathan Harvey's Mortuos Plango, Vivos Voco, and sewed them together into a rich tapestry. We were allowed to bring in programs we'd previously created, so I used disks from my Additive Synthesis Project, only using the keygroups and setup to control the bell and voice instead of sine waves. Sadly I only have this hissy cassette recording of the finished work, and no score or sequencer disks. Despite (or maybe because of) the limitations, this short piece somehow turned out to be one of my most successful electronic compositions to reach completion - the electroacoustic angels were certainly with me :-)

Your feedback is appreciated (but no need to bother asking "Where are the MP3's?")
