Once up the steep climb of
Gordale Scar, an ancient stone staircase
leads ever upwards onto the clifftop overlooking Gordale Beck carving its way
through the valley deep below. On the far side are the steep cliffs of
Low Stony Bank.

On reaching the top of the moors you
can see High Stony Bank in the distance, another huge cliff face east of
Great Close Scar.
Strange mushrooms grow here atop the grassy rocky moors.
